Mark
Richards: Rebel with a cause
RACINE
His eyes discreetly dart
between a visitor seated in
his law office and the stock
quotes rolling across the
bottom of his color
television screen.
In the fast-paced world of
criminal defense attorney
Mark David Richards, nothing
less is expected. If he's
not fidgeting with his
PalmPilot to check and
re-check the stock market,
e-mails and look up phone
numbers, Richards is
strategizing how to win his
next court case.

Man
sentenced in crash that
killed father-in-law
RACINE
A seemingly enjoyable night
out at a May wedding
reception ended tragically
when an 84-year-old
passenger was killed in a
car accident caused by his
son-in-law who admitted to
having a few drinks hours
earlier.
And for his choice to drive
around 11 p.m. after
reportedly drinking six
beers between 4:30 and 10
p.m., David F. Allgeyer was
sentenced Friday morning to
20 days in jail and two
years probation.

What
the series is about
When lawyers and court
officials in Racine County
discuss the best in the
criminal court system, they
usually talk about defense
attorneys Mark Nielsen, Mark
Richards, Domingo Cruz,
Patrick Cafferty, Richard
Jones and John Campion.
Today marks the debut of
"For the Defense," a
six-part series of profiles
of each of these defense
attorneys by Journal Times
courts reporter Wendy Parks.
